An interactive flock of jellyfish
Tectonic Grounds is an exploration of digital design and fabrication techniques, data collection, and 1:1 prototyping to deliver an interactive installation. This folly uses skills learned over a two-week intensive to explore the design and construction process using today’s technology. This interactive installation, Frillish, uses Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) to switch between resting and active states.
The Hobermans sphere’s mechanism was used as precedence to mimic the fluid motion of a jellyfish. Seniors detect user interactions through light and movement that triggered a lights show and movement of the jellyfish.
