The Interactive Creature

Tectonic Grounds at the University of Melbourne is a hands-on course that delves into digital fabrication and physical computing, culminating in the creation of a full-scale prototype or 'folly.' It emphasizes the evolving role of craftsmanship in the digital age, fostering skills in drawing, making, and construction.

Through collaborative teamwork, the course takes an interdisciplinary approach to architectural design, leveraging computing tools for innovative outcomes. Launched in 2015, its inaugural project was "Onyx," a structure of polypropylene pods designed to engage with user interactions and demonstrate a union of digital input and physical architecture.
